VIDEO OF THE EVENT
In conjunction with the Waikerie High Schools 60 year anniversary, students who attended the Leaving Year at Waikerie High School in 1967 held a 50 year reunion.
Allen Buckley, Jenny Otto and Patrea Channon with help from
other members of that year were able to contact many members, whose names
appear below. There were three members
overseas who tendered apologies.

On Saturday 26 October 2019, about twenty people, old
students and partners, attended a light luncheon at the Waikerie Gliding Club
to renew old acquaintances and remember school years. Past students were able to give a short
presentation on “water under the bridge” for the past fifty two years. It was very interesting to hear what past
students had been involved in during that period.
We also welcomed Pat Smith, one of our class teachers, and his wife who travelled from Adelaide for the occasion.

This was followed by a tour of the Gliding Club and viewing
of the latest in gliders, valued at about 500,000 dollars and a short talk on
the club by Bill Mudge.
On Saturday evening about 200 people including past students,
teachers and principals attended the Waikerie Hotel for a dinner and function
to celebrate the 60 year anniversary of the Waikerie High School. At the same time about 80 people including
past students and teachers attended the Waikerie Golf Club and held a similar
celebration. There were too many people
for the one venue which was unfortunate, however, everyone enjoyed themselves.
On the following day Sunday 27th October 2019, Waikerie High School held an open day to
celebrate 60 years. This was also well
attended and people were able to walk through all classrooms and try and locate
their classrooms of fifty years ago.
There was also a lot of interest in looking through past
school year books to locate names, photographs or past achievements recorded in
them.
It was a great weekend with many thanks to the organisers.
